The Silent Foundation was founded in July 2010 by Mr Teng Ngiek Lian and is a registered charity in Singapore.
We believe in helping Silent Sufferers who are overlooked. They can range from people who are voiceless, weak, or neglected by society to the environment and animals who cannot speak for themselves. We are looking to support causes including but not limited to mental health issues, minority race and social workers. The Silent Foundation wants to help those who are traditionally overlooked by the charity sector.
This is in line with Mr Teng Ngiek Lian’s background as a fund manager who primarily invests in unloved companies in the overlook sector.
The Silent Foundation is willing to fund both human and environmental (including animal welfare) causes. The major part of our funding will focus on catalytic activities which will help to initiate and gather public support.
Examples of such activities include creating awareness through publicity, education and lobbying. We believe that with greater public participation, all the stakeholders can achieve better multiplier effects and hence creating a better return of impact for the money disbursed.
We encourage active participation between all parties involved in furthering our causes and also establishing the good use of funds and key performance indices. We want to have measurable outputs which will lead to desirable outcomes.
We seek transparency and good corporate governance in any potential charities that we might consider working with.
In addition to the funding principle mentioned above, we will also participate in funding of disaster and compassionate reliefs.
